In 2024, PowWater, a leading social enterprise in Kenya focused on equitable water access, launched a strategic partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve water delivery systems and aquifer management using advanced technology.

This collaborative initiative aims to address key challenges in urban and peri-urban water distribution by leveraging route optimization tools and data-driven planning. Through the integration of smart logistics, the project seeks to streamline water delivery routes, reduce operational inefficiencies, and ensure timely access to safe water for underserved communities.

In addition to optimizing delivery, the project is enhancing aquifer management by introducing technology that allows for better tracking, monitoring, and analysis of groundwater resources. These tools will support more sustainable extraction practices and inform future planning, helping to preserve critical water reserves in the face of growing demand and climate-related pressures.

Access to clean water is not just a basic human need. It is a foundation for health, productivity, and resilience. This partnership with USAID allows PowWater to scale impactful technology that can create lasting change in how water is delivered and managed.

By combining innovation with grassroots insight, PowWater and USAID aim to create a replicable model for sustainable water access that can be expanded across other regions facing similar challenges.
